What do our scholars say?

The IAHPC believes that national palliative care associations/societies, through its members, can be the most effective agents of change in their countries.

The IAHPC Scholarship Program supports national palliative care associations/societies to pay the registration of individual members’ attendance at national conferences, workshops, congresses, and any other educational events sponsored by the national palliative care association (or an association relevant to palliative care).

The Program does not provide funding to cover travel or hotel of the beneficiaries or any expense for speakers, facilitators, tuition for degree programs, clinical placements, fellowships, training programs, or international events.

Selection criteria for beneficiaries: in case the application is approved, the association should select participants who are:

  • Junior palliative care workers who have been in the field less than 10 years.
  • Palliative care workers living/working in rural/remote or resource constrained areas.
  • Members of the national association.

Preference criteria for the selection of beneficiaries (not required):

  • Individuals with an accepted poster or oral presentation.
  • Individuals with an active IAHPC membership. Check membership.

Associations should submit applications to the IAHPC at least 3 months in advance of the expected start date of the activity, or by IAHPC's stated deadline. Only a listed IAHPC representative of the national association can apply for the scholarships.

To apply for and receive an IAHPC Scholarship Program grant national associations must:

  • Be IAHPC institutional members. Check membership.
  • Have listed the event in the IAHPC Calendar of Events. If the event is not listed, please direct the event organizers to add it: listing an event in the calendar is free.
  • Provide a free space for the IAHPC in the exhibit area (if available)
  • Acknowledge the IAHPC as one of the organizations sponsoring/supporting the event by displaying the IAHPC logo in the program and organization website and other public displays.
  • Insert an IAHPC brochure in registration packages (if available).

After the event, participants who benefited from the grant are required to complete a brief online report to the IAHPC.
