Communication Skills in Palliative and End-of-Life Care is the theme of IAHPC's most recent Literature Search, compiled by Barry Ashpole. The topics include: end-of-live conversation skills for students in healthcare, training for residents, the use of AI, preparation for talking about existential issues, adapting to emotional complexity, compassion, and much more.
Accelerating Progress on Universal Access to Palliative Care: Learning from Country Experiences is an in-person, free, and open to all World Health Assembly side event taking place on May 22, 2025, at 6 p.m. Its goal is to obtain a deeper understanding of the burden of serious health-related suffering and countries' access to palliative care, and to identify strategies for stakeholders to integrate palliative care into existing programs. IAHPC is co-sponsoring this event.
Pallium India's webinar held in February to discuss frequently overlooked struggles of caregivers, The Hidden Faces of Caregiving: Uncovering Gaps and Solutions, is now online. Topics include the emotional and physical challenges, lack of support, and practical solutions to strengthen support systems for caregivers.
May includes National Palliative Care Week in some countries. Australia's End-of-Life Essentials is marking the occasion by highlighting its free training resources "for you or your team to build confidence in end-of-life care, and spark important conversations across your hospital."
