Full WHO Guideline The English version of the full WHO guideline on balanced national controlled medicine policies to ensure medical access and safety is now freely available as a downloadable pdf. The 80-page document details policy development on controlled medicines, pricing and financing, supply chain management, regulation and control, prescribing and dispensing, as well as educating healthcare professionals, patients, and the public. It is in the process of being translated into Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, and Spanish.
Palliative Care by Nurses Improves Outcomes Nurse-Led Palliative Care for Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis: A parallel, single-blind, pragmatic, randomised controlled trial in Uganda is an open-access article in the August Lancet reporting on a study involving 154 participants. The authors concluded that "Additional nurse-led palliative care for patients with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis improved self-reported outcomes spanning physical, psychological, social, and spiritual domains, and increased medication adherence." The eight authors include former IAHPC Board Members Eve Namisango and Julia Downing.
International Children's Palliative Care Network has released its resources for the October 10, 2025 edition of #HatsOn4CPC, an international effort to raise awareness of the need for pediatric palliative care.
