Geeta Joshi Elected IAPC President  Geeta Joshi, MD, who has worked for the Indian Association of Palliative Care (IAPC) since its inception, has been elected its president.

"My goal for the next three years," she said, "is to work towards the effective implementation of the National Program for Palliative Care [NPPC] across all the states of India, to strengthen academic programs of IAPC, to collaborate with other specialities for palliative care in cancer and non-cancer patients. The IAPC also has several focussed special interest groups to further develop specific areas of palliative care in the country."

Dr. M.T. Bhatia, founder of the IAPC, was a teacher and mentor for Dr. Joshi, influencing her to become a cancer pain management specialist and palliative care physician.

She began her career as an anesthesiologist at Gujarat Cancer & Research Institute, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. In 2010, Dr. Joshi established the Department of Palliative Medicine at that same institute, while working to establish postgraduate education in palliative medicine, morphine availability, and the NPPC across Gujarat. In 2017, she moved to the Community Oncology Centre & Hospice Complex, and is now involved in activities revolving around cancer awareness, screening, and palliative care.

International Children's Palliative Care Network's call for abstracts for its November conference in Manila opened April 1 and closes on May 31, 2025. Submissions include posters, oral presentations, and workshops.
