Result of December Fundraising Campaigns

IAHPC was part of two Global Giving fundraising campaigns in December 2020, as well as one of our own.

On Giving Tuesday, we received $440 in donations through Global Giving and another $530 during a matching campaign between December 14 to 18. Only new donors who committed to monthly donations could qualify for matching funds. IAHPC will receive the first matching payment starting on the third month of the donation pledge.

The third campaign was linked to the IAHPC website. Throughout December, visitors to the site encountered a pop-up window inviting them to donate $5 USD.

If you missed the pop-up, and would like to take part, the online donation form is here. We are grateful for every donation, no matter the size. When you donate directly, you can rest assured that every penny goes toward increasing access to palliative care around the world, but with a special emphasis on those most in need.

Watch for a GLAD Announcement in 2021

In July 2020, IAHPC announced its Global Leaders in the Advancement and Development of Palliative Care (GLAD) Program, designed to support palliative care workers from any discipline. Applicants must have demonstrated leadership capabilities and a desire to advance palliative care in their own countries in line with United Nations resolutions and commitments. The progam builds on the original Leadership Development Initiative designed to increase global palliative care capacity.

Unfortunately, the pandemic forced us to postpone the program and processing of the applications until summer 2021, COVID-19 permitting. A key component of the GLAD program, and of the projects submitted by applicants, is the ability to meet face to face with colleagues, media representatives, academic deans, government officials, and others. The new wave of COVID-19 is compelling policy makers to focus on pandemic response, preparedness, and containment plans, limiting their ability to engage in-person in national systems change.

As soon as the program is rescheduled and applications can be resumed, IAHPC will make an announcement.
