$8,211 Raised in IAHPC Education Appeal

Thank you to all who responded to our appeal and contributed to the IAHPC “Education Relieves Health-Related Suffering” campaign on Giving Tuesday, December 3. Donations totalled $6,011. Added to matching funds for donations received through the Global Giving website, the amount grew to $8,211.

More than 11,200 donors contributed $USD1.67 million on that one day, benefitting 4,063 nonprofit projects around the world.

How and Where to Get Palliative Care in the U.S.

United States residents seeking palliative care can consult the newly-established Palliative Care Provider Directory to identify local resources. The directory is a free, searchable database produced by the U.S. Center to Advance Palliative Care. More than 900 palliative care services have contributed to this directory of thousands of community resources available to palliative care patients, their families, and referring providers.

The site also includes general information:

What Is It? Defines palliative care, lists disease types, has an FAQ on palliative care, and provides handouts for families.
Is It Right for You? is a five-question quiz to help determine if palliative care is appropriate.
How To Get It explains how to talk to your doctor and suggests a list of questions to ask your palliative care team.
The Blog contains clinical and other articles about palliative care.
Resources is a bank of relevant links, videos, podcasts, and webinars. It also has sections for caregivers and policymakers; describes types of care (e.g., Community Aging in Place, Guided Care, etc.); and provides a glossary. FYI: IAHPC maintains a comprehensive palliative care dictionary, Pallipedia, suited to clinicians, caregivers, and patients.
