Editor’s corner

In this issue, we are introducing a name change for the section that serves as an umbrella for reports issuing from those who receive grants from the IAHPC. ‘IAHPC Grants in Action’ includes Traveling Scholarship reports, Traveling Fellowship Reports, Program Support Grant reports, and reports from those who attend educational workshops and other special events thanks to IAHPC support. This issue contains two such reports: Michael Gosey’s eye-opening trip to Haiti, and M.R. Rajagopal’s project to help enact relatively new laws in India that loosen access to opioid pain relievers.

Advocacy Officer Katherine Pettus asks readers to answer a short questionnaire; the answers will be synthesized into a report that Dr. Pettus will deliver to an upcoming UN session on older persons. A feature interview with Roberto Wenk on Pallipedia is timed to celebrate the free, online palliative care dictionary’s 10-year anniversary.

I hope that you enjoy this group effort to deliver timely, useful information!

Best wishes,

Alison Ramsey
Senior Editor

Erratum

In the January 2018 issue of the Newsletter, in Dr. Eric Krakauer's report, the phrase in Vietnamese quoted in the piece was misspelled. The correct spelling is Lương y phải như từ mẫu, which means 'Doctors must act like gentle mothers.'
