’Voice of Volunteering’: The EAPC Madrid Charter on Volunteering in Hospice and Palliative Care
Ros Scott and Leena Pelttari, Co-chairs of the EAPC Task Force on Volunteering, invite you to sign the Charter.
The European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) Task Force on Volunteering was delighted by the response to the launch of the EAPC Madrid Charter on Volunteering in Hospice and Palliative Care at the 15th EAPC World Congress in Madrid in May.
Motivated by the amazing work of volunteers, the development of the Charter was a key strand of our work, informed through consultation with volunteers, paid staff, researchers and the EAPC Board. Thirteen different countries took part.
The Charter aims to:
- Promote the successful development of volunteering for the benefit of patients, families and the wider hospice and palliative care community.
- Recognize volunteering as a third resource alongside professional care and family care, with its own identity, position and value.
- Promote research and best practice models in the recruitment, management, support, integration, training and resourcing of volunteers.
Please show your support for volunteering by signing the Charter here and doing what you can to implement it.
