CanSupport honored as Public Health Champion by World Health Organization (WHO)

Congratulations to IAHPC institutional member, CanSupport, on its recognition as a Public Health Champion by the WHO (India Office) on World Health Day, 7 April 2017.

CanSupport has been working in New Delhi, India, and the national capital region, since 1996 with its model of home-based palliative care, and cares for approximately 24,000 cancer patients each year. The non-governmental organization has 28 teams in the region comprising doctors, nurses and counselors who provide palliative care completely free of charge to all its beneficiaries.  

In addition, there are two Day Care centers, a helpline and a dedicated cell that helps patients to obtain government funds for expensive medicines. CanSupport also has a training division for palliative care and conducts regular training courses in different parts of the country.
