Life Asked Death – new documentary film highlights the pain and suffering that needs to be urgently addressed in Asia
Produced by Moonshine Movies, Life Asked Death, was released on World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (8 October 2016) and is available for all to view online.
The film highlights the scale of pain and suffering that needs to be urgently addressed in Asia, and offers insights into the positive outcomes that can be achieved even in resource-limited countries. The documentary brings viewers to Bangladesh, Myanmar and Sri Lanka to witness how the Lien Collaborative’s specialist volunteers bring palliative care and training to these countries.
When international experts and local stakeholders work together to develop palliative care capacity in the government-run health systems, the barriers to pain relief and humane care can be removed.
InSup-C launches new book on Integrated Palliative Care – FREE to download
The InSup-C project is pleased to announce the availability of a free-to-download book, ‘Integrated Palliative Care’, published in September 2016.
Edited by InSup-C project members Jeroen Hasselaar and Sheila Payne, this book provides a European context of palliative care development, which includes stories from patients and family caregivers about their own experiences of integrated palliative care within five European Union countries. It also provides highlights of the factors that facilitate and are barriers to integrated palliative care, with recommendations for policy and practice.
This book is essential reading for all those undertaking studies in palliative care. Download the book for free. (A Spanish translation is now under way).
The InSup-C project has been investigating the best way to deliver integrated palliative care to people who have advanced cancer, heart failure or lung disease as they come toward the end of their lives. Find out more on the InSup-C website and read the posts about the project’s recent activities on the EAPC Blog.

Palliative Care: Conversations Matter®: New video on pediatric palliative care
The National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR) has released a short video that provides a straightforward overview of pediatric palliative care for families, providers and organizations.
This resource is part of NINR’s Palliative Care: Conversations Matter® campaign. The video, which is also available with Spanish captions, uses an animated approach to guide viewers through the services that pediatric palliative care encompasses. The video explains in simple terms that palliative care: is not the same as hospice and can be provided alongside, not instead of, other treatments; can enhance quality of life for children and families; and offers support to the entire family while respecting family culture and beliefs.
