Update on the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund / IAHPC Bursaries Program

After 3 years, we have allocated almost all the funds from the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund’s grant to IAHPC. We are no longer accepting applications through this program. We are very grateful with the DPWMF for its support that enabled IAHPC to help palliative care education in African countries. The IAHPC board members Faith Mwangi-Powell, Lukas Radbruch, Mhoira Leng, Scott Murray and Zipporah Ali participated as faculty and/or as advisers to this program.

Through this grant we were able to support more than 100 individuals who received funding for their post graduate education in palliative care and palliative care research courses. The list of grantees who received funds through this program is available in https://iahpc.org/what-we-do/programs/dpwmf-iahpc-bursaries/ (The final list of grantees will be updated once the last grants are allocated). Congratulations to all these grantees – we hope that the funds they received and the education and courses they were able to complete will result in better patient care of people living with palliative care needs in their regions. We are also very grateful with the institutions that offered the courses, diplomas and workshops which provided the education where the grantees were able to enhance and improve their palliative care skills and knowledge. They are: Hospice Africa Uganda (Uganda), Makerere University (Uganda), Oxford Brooks University (Kenya), University of Edinburgh (UK), University of Cape Town (South Africa), University of Dundee (UK), International Medical and Technological University (Tanzania) and Cardiff University (UK).

In a few days, we will be publishing a section in our website that will contain the reports of the grantees.
