Taskforce palliative care in long-term care settings for older people
European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC)
There has been a growing interest in palliative care provision in long term care settings at the EAPC conferences for a number of years prior to the Taskforce being established. The aim of the taskforce is to provide an European overview on palliative care initiatives in long-term care facilities that sought to improve the care that older people receive toward the end of their lives.
The taskforce's work is now available at the EAPC website, click here to download the paper.
IAHPC International Directories
We are pleased to announce that we have completed the first round of updates of two IAHPC online directories, a great resource for the global palliative care community.
The two types of directories are:
- Global Directory of Service Providers and Organizations: This directory lists the organizations, palliative care organization and service providers around the globe. To date more than 700 listings are available in the directory. The listing includes contact information, address, and a description of the services provided.
- Global Directory of Educational Programs in Palliative Care: This directory lists the educational programs in palliative care by region, type of degree, language, costs, length of time and course content.
The directories are located in our website under the resources section and the information is available free for all visitors. To see the directories click here.
If you wish to add or modify and update an existing listing in these directories, please click on the link above – you will find a special form to do so. Listing is free.
The construction and development of the educational directory was possible thanks to a grant from the US Cancer Pain Relief Committee. Additional funding which contributed to the development and construction of the directories, include funds from a grant for core support from Open Society Foundations. Valuable time to upload all the information in the directory of services was donated by Ms. Julia Libreros from Houston, a longtime volunteer of IAHPC. We are very grateful for their donations and contributions, which made possible these resources.
We are confident that these directories will not only serve as informative resources, but will also strengthen existing networks and foster communication among providers and educators from around the world.
If you need any help or have any questions regarding these directories, please contact Ana Restrepo at [email protected]
