Volume 24, Number 6: June 2023
Dear Readers,
This month, we highlight some of the benefits available to our members, which could be yours at a deep discount if you join or renew in June or July.
We invite you to take advantage of this offer! 20% off the IAHPC membership fee for all categories of individuals and institutions. If your membership is still current or if you recently joined/renewed, you can still go ahead, and renew early. Your membership will be extended for a year beyond the original end date. If your membership has expired, this is a great opportunity to renew. If you have never been an IAHPC member, now’s the time! Join our global palliative care community!
We have close to 1,000 members in 120 countries, all of whom who can take advantage of our educational offerings, such as courses ranging from advanced pain and symptom relief to global advocacy. Educational benefits build practitioners’ capacities to deliver palliative care in their own settings. Find IAHPC members in your country to connect with on the IAHPC Members Map!
Are you a reader? Books for
new and renewing members
As we mentioned in last month’s column, thanks to a gift from Dr. Eduardo Bruera and the Department of Palliative, Rehabilitation & Integrative Medicine at MD Anderson Cancer Center, new and renewing members only pay shipping costs from our office in Texas. Ed.; MD Anderson's Guide to Supportive and Palliative Care for Nurses, 2nd Ed.; and Some Notes for Physicians Contemplating a Career in Palliative and Person-Centered Care, by Eduardo Bruera, MD. (Delivery in the United States: $17 per book. Delivery elsewhere: $35 per book.)
Advanced clinical courses for members
Building on last year’s course on symptom assessment and management, we will be starting an Advanced Course on Symptom Management for members, starting with an in-depth, three-lecture course on pain starting on June 28! Watch your inbox for the announcement and registration details.
2023 Photo Contest for members
IAHPC's 2023 Photo Contest is your second opportunity to showcase the face of palliative care where you live and work. Your photos could have a wide audience in our newsletter, as we use them to illustrate reports and stories. Member photos also appear in social media posts and other IAHPC communications. Prizes for the top three photos are:
- 1st place:$300 USD and a 2-year membership extension
- 2nd place:$200 USD and a 1-year membership extension
- 3rd place: $100 USD and a 6-month membership extension
