Coordinator directory services
The goal of Julia’s work as Coordinator of IAHPC Directories and Resources is to help increase public access to information about palliative care educational programs and events around the world. This includes providing information about services and providers to optimize the practice of palliative care.
Julia’s tasks include administering and updating the IAHPC Global Directory of Education in Palliative Care, the Global Directory of Institutions/Organizations, and the IAHPC Calendar of Events. All three resources include information about programs, services, organizations and events in all regions of the world. She also responds to direct queries about resources and providers. Juia works closely with the IAHPC Webmaster to ensure the accurate geolocation of the providers in the Global Directories.
Julia moved to Houston, Texas two decades ago, beginning her longtime association with IAHPC as a volunteer. She was appointed as Coordinator of Services for the International Directories on the IAHPC Website in 2014.
Julia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Gerontology and an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy and throughout her professional career has been involved in palliative care. She worked as Coordinator of In-House Services at Hospice La Viga in Cali, Colombia, the country where she was born. As a gerontologist and physical therapist, she was involved in rehabilitation to improve the quality of life of patients with advanced chronic conditions.
Julia enjoys practicing yoga and going to concerts with her husband.
