Victoria Hewitt

Dr Victoria Hewitt is a UK-based doctor specialising in palliative care advocacy and education, with extensive expertise in online medical education, healthcare quality improvement and project management. Dr Hewitt is a member of IAHPC’s advocacy committee, led the development of a national palliative care framework for North Macedonia and has supported the implementation of digital operations in several UK hospices. She holds Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy, is a Policy Fellow and Visiting Lecturer at Newcastle University, serves as educational advisor to the University of Health Sciences, Cambodia, and is embarking on a second term on the Board of IAHPC.

Since the covid-19 pandemic, Victoria has worked to raise awareness of the moral distress that is experienced by healthcare workers unprepared and untrained in end-of-life care. She founded Hamilton Hill Coaching and Consultancy, to support senior health care professionals to live and work to their values in purposeful “encore careers” into and beyond retirement. She also works with healthcare organisations to retain their workforce and improve palliative care, pioneering a design thinking workshop approach that focuses on solutions and puts people rather than problems at the centre.

Victoria is committed to living in alignment with her core values of happiness, challenge, connection, service, learning and health. Outside of work she can be found either weight training at the gym, learning something new or discovering places to explore with friends and family.
